Navigating the Anthropocene Through a Cinematic Lens

Filming and installing

This section explores the ways cinema can set up a story in an unusual way through visual language and scriptwriting.

Our everyday access to cinema makes it natural for us to incorporate hundreds of different stories, but don’t they all resemble each other, at the very least structurally?

This section’s movies expose the constructive ways in which official narratives are built. The Grand Narrative of the Anthropocene does follow a linear structure, but it is as reorganizable and therefore artificial as any other. Perhaps cinema can change our perspective on how to tell a story, and by extension, on how we tell the story of our planet and society.

Here, it is all about alternatively installing the Anthropocene in our lives through cinematic narrative innovations and destabilizations.
