Thanks for your patience during our recent outage at scalar.usc.edu. While Scalar content is loading normally now, saving is still slow, and Scalar's 'additional metadata' features have been disabled, which may interfere with features like timelines and maps that depend on metadata. This also means that saving a page or media item will remove its additional metadata. If this occurs, you can use the 'All versions' link at the bottom of the page to restore the earlier version. We are continuing to troubleshoot, and will provide further updates as needed. Note that this only affects Scalar projects at scalar.usc.edu, and not those hosted elsewhere.

The following video will walk you through the process of searching for books held in Special Collections, and how to request them for consultation in the reading room.
During the Covid19 pandemic, special rules apply and access to physical materials in Special Collections may be restricted - make sure to check the most current information on our website.
Activity: Search the USC Library Catalog for a book on a topic of your choice and check if we have any books on that topic in Special Collections. Click the request button to get to the request form. Don't click submit UNLESS you really want to come and consult the book - which obviously, you are more than welcome to do!
