Thanks for your patience during our recent outage at scalar.usc.edu. While Scalar content is loading normally now, saving is still slow, and Scalar's 'additional metadata' features have been disabled, which may interfere with features like timelines and maps that depend on metadata. This also means that saving a page or media item will remove its additional metadata. If this occurs, you can use the 'All versions' link at the bottom of the page to restore the earlier version. We are continuing to troubleshoot, and will provide further updates as needed. Note that this only affects Scalar projects at scalar.usc.edu, and not those hosted elsewhere.

There is one diplomatic memorandum regarding a meeting between Polish Ambassador Jerzy Michalowski and Nathaniel Davis to discuss normalizing bilateral relations in the aftermath of the Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia. Two documents are translations of articles from journals of the Polish security services dealing with missile defense, and two are translations of speeches by First Secretary Władysław Gomulka outlining an ideological direction after the invasion and Poland's March Crisis of 1968. Four of these documents, including a newspaper clipping requested by W.W. Rostow, directly or indirectly discuss the antisemitic campaigns associated with this Crisis and subsequent power re-alignment involving General Mieczysław Moczar and First Secretary Gomułka.
