Tomb Chamber near that of the Family of L. Arruntius in the same vineyard discovered in 1736

22849 CAMERA SEPOLCRALE pochi passi distante da quella gia descritta della Famiglia di L. Arrunzio nella stessa vigna, scoperta l’anno 1736. Le Pareti contengono una disposizione di Colombaj, sotto ad alcuni de’quali sonovi le Iscrizioni coi nomi de’defonti. Negli altri Colombaj, ove quelle mancano, ne apparè segno alcuno d’esservi state; si può credere, che non vi sia stato posto il cenere, come abbiamo osservato parim.te in altre stanze. Questa Camera senza iscrizione alcuna illustre, senza alcun vestigio di nobile ornamento pare, che sia stata fabbricata a comodo, e richiesta comune mediante un patuito prezzo. Il che si può agevolmente supporre anche dalla varietà de’nomi nelle brevi iscrizioni segnati, e dalle Arti ignobili in quelle espresse, tra quali si legge quella di un tal L. Aquilio Ciabattino. Una nicchia sola più grande si osserva in mezzo di una parete, il restante sono tutti Colombaj in buona parte ricoperti dal terreno. Altre Camere a questa contigue, essendo mezzo rovinate, furono demolite del tutto; raccoltane però tra quelle rovine gran quantità di framenti di Casse, Sacrofaghi, Vasi, Urne, e d’altri funebri monumenti.

Urns, Stelae, and Cinerary Vasees of Marble in the Corsini Villa Tutti questi sepolcrali Monumenti, i quali si veggono disposti sopra di un muro accanto al Casino collo stesso ordine, che qui rappresentati si mirano, insieme con infiniti altri, quà e la sparsi per la Villa, furono ritrovati gli anni addietro nella Villa medesima nel fare gli Scassati. E l’Ortolano Domenico Pasquini asserisce aver veduti in siti diversi molti avanzi di Fabbriche sepolcrali, le quali mostrano di non essere state scavate. Imperciocchè in una gran Buca presso il Pero grosso accanto al boschetto furono trovati degli Scheletri interi, frammenti di marmo, e di terra cotta, tra quali molte pietre d’Anello di varia spezie intagliate, Anelli, monete, e parecchi orecchini d’oro, alcune delle quali cose da me sono state vedute. Accanto parimenti allo Stanzione degli agrumi a capo del Vialetto entrando nel Filone dieci passi fu scoperto un pezzo di Volta con molti rabeschi dipinti, e tra questi un bellissimo Pavone al naturale in campo bianco. Sotto al medesimo Filone un Pozzo così profondo, che gittandovi un sasso non si udiva arrivare al basso. Alli due Fichi brusciotti, ove si scarica la Vinaccia, fu scoperta una Scala di marmo con una Porta di travertino. La Scala fu ricoperta, e gli Stipiti della Porta si trasportarono accosto al Palazzo. Di quando in quando trovò egli ancora in altri siti de’ teschj, e delle ossa umane, delle quali anche al giorno d’oggi se ne vede quantità sopra terra disperse per il Viale maggiore.
58. Marble Cinerary Vessels Pile cenerarie, scavate in un solo pezzo di marmo, e ritrovare in alcune Stanze sepolcrali, che molti anni sono furono demolite nella Villa medesima. Alle Pile nella parte dinanzi corrispondono tre piani per le Iscrizioni, i quali internandosi alquanto sono attorniati da una gola, che serve a quelli di cornice. Tra un piano, e l’altro, come ancora da una parte verso il lato manco, si veggono incisi degli uccelli e de’ fogliami alla maniera de’ grotteschi. Gli angoli nella parte di sopra tra una Pila, e l’altra, sono ornati di rose scolpite in bassorilievo.
