'One That's More Torrid': The Pirates of Madagascar

[Contemporary Docs] "A Pirate hanged at Execution Dock"

As noted by the museum curators at the National Maritime Museum (Royal Museums Greenwich), this engraving is one of the most enduring images of the early modern era of English piracy. While produced almost a century later, it has illustrated innumerable books on piracy and holds true to historical records of such events.
