I was studying for a major exam three years ago and found a study saying that students tend to retain information better while simultaneously listening to instrumental music. I decided to try the technique myself.The soundtrack for the movie ‘Amelie’ immediately sparked my curiosity due to the genius of composer Yann Tiersen, who is described to be the ‘ veritable Einstein of musical instruments’. To this day, ‘Amelie’ is my absolute favourite movie due to the simplistic and imaginative nature of the main character.One of the main themes of this movie is happiness, which Amelie acheives by performing kind acts for others.All her life she had felt like an outcast and seemingly the only time she felt that she had a purpose was when she did something special for someone else. This is exactly the way that I feel about my life. Of course we all have our God given purpose but it is our conscious duty as human beings to be anchors for each other.I wish to be like Amelie ; to be more giving of my talents and less selfish. Sometimes you are purposely lead to something that is meant to help you improve yourself.’Amelie’ represents a turning point in my life .
