   "I wasn't making Mexican or Latino art. I was just drawing faces that looked like mine. At college, a lot of professors did not like my art: 'Oh, it's folk art.' But I took all that and turned it into something positive." Natalia Anciso 
        

             Natalia Anciso is a Chicana Tejana artist specializing in visual arts and education. She was born and raised along the U.S. – Mexico border in the deep south of Texas, where her family dwelled since the Texas Revolution. There her family and her people faced many injustices and cruelties, of which are now the subjects of her art (Anciso).
