Taking The Power Back: Unity Through Love or Force?

As noted in the book All About Love: New Visions, love is often seen as a way of promoting unity and equality. But the exact logistics of love and how to promote it are unbeknownst to younger generations, explained the author bell hooks. There is a strong consensus between these generations that a society promoting unity (which should include equality, community, and intersectionality) and love is the end goal. Despite the common interest, the means of reaching this societal state will vary between people. Do we strive for unity through solely spreading love or through retaliation?

Rage Against The Machine is a 1990s band from Los Angeles known for broadcasting their revolutionary political views through fusions of rock, metal, and rap. Take The Power Back, a song from their 1991 self-titled album, plays with this idea of creating community through force and "taking back" what higher institutions have stripped away.
