Annotation

The repetition of male hands, a body part that can inflict great pleasure and great pain, brings up the ideas of masculinity, sexual frustration, and aggression. The severed hand relates to the freudian castration complex. The fear of losing one’s limbs stems from the fear of losing one's sexual organ and thus losing what makes one a man. The film covers primal male fears and desires without any concern for aesthetics. It shows what the male unconscious mind longs for when free of social judgment and standards of behavior.
