According to information gathered from quizclub.com, the history of WWII, alongside with other instances that happened in the 20th century Japan are still rarely taught in current day Japanese schools. Instead, the period from "Homo erectus" till present time is covered within almost one year of study, and the majority of 20th century history is left for home reading or extracurricular research, avoiding the elaboration on the war’s atrocity (e.g. there is only one line in the Japanese history textbook introducing the Nanking Massacre). This information gap created by textbook coverage can possibly lead to future conflicts between the Japanese younger generations (who are raised unaware of the brutal war) and those from other countries, specifically those with detailed education about WWII.
