A Pushcart Prize nominated writer, her writing can be found or is forthcoming in Gulf Coast, Drunken Boat, The Collagist, Fairy Tale Review, and others. She is a recipient of fellowships to Kundiman, VONA/Voices Workshop and the Community of Writers at Squaw Valley. She is a contributing editor to the Bettering American Poetry anthology and is also Poetry Co-Editor of Apogee Journal. Currently, she is Dornsife Fellow in Creative Writing and Literature at University of Southern California.
Her academic research focuses on the intersection of critical race studies, trauma and affect theory, and speculative literature. She has taught college courses in film and literature, poetry, and creative writing in addition to working as a teaching artist and nonprofit administrator with organizations such as Community-Word Project, Elders Share the Arts, Baton Rouge Youth Coalition, and Sadie Nash Leadership Project among others. In the following project, "In Speculative Time: Race and Literature of Uncertain Futures," she explores the components of a course devoted to the study of race and the speculative genre in literature.
