| - Man schreibt aus Paris: Der sich gegenwärtig hier aufhaltende bekannte amerikanische Schriftsteller Samuel L. Clements [sic] („Mark Twain“) hat einen Kontrakt abgeschlossen, durch welchen er sich zu einer Vorlese-Tournee um die Welt verpflichtet. Er wird schon in nächster Zeit von Paris nach den Ver. Staaten abreisen und sich von dort über San Francisco nach Australien und Indien begeben. Der hauptsächlichste Grund, welcher ihn veranlaßte, den erwähnten Kontrakt zu machen, ist der, daß er infolge unglücklicher Kapitalsanlagen fast sein ganzes Vermögen verloren hat. So hat er z. B. durch den Zusammenbruch der New Yorker Verlagsfirma Webster & Co. über $200,000 verloren. | - From Paris come the news that the well-known American writer Samuel L. He will leave Paris for the United States in the near future, and from there he will travel via San Francisco to Australia and India.
