New-Bedford, Mass., 22. Febr. - Unsere Stadt feierte heute den 82. Jahrestag ihrer Incorporation, bei welcher Gelegenheit der patriotische Bürger der Stadt, Henry H. Rogers, ein Beamter der „Standard-Oel-Compagnie,“ der Stadt die auf seine Kosten erbaute neue Stadthalle, welche einen Werth von nahezu einer halben Million Dollars repräsentiren soll, den städtischen Behörden übergab. Der Feier wohnten Gouverneur Greenhelge, Mayor Matthews von Boston und andere prominente Persönlichkeiten bei, während Hr. Samuel L. Clemens (Mark Twain) die äußerst humoristische und dennoch zu Herzen gehende Festrede hielt.New-Bedford, Mass., Feb. 22 - Today our city celebrated the 82nd anniversary of its incorporation, on which occasion the patriotic citizen of the city, Henry H. Rogers, an official of the “Standard Oil Company,” presented the city authorities with the new city hall built at his expense, which is said to represent a value of nearly half a million dollars. The ceremony was attended by Governor Greenhelge, Mayor Matthews of Boston and other prominent personalities, while Mr. Samuel L. Clemens (Mark Twain) delivered a very humorous and yet heartfelt speech.
