Unter den Unterzeichnern der Petition befinden sich: Carl Schurz. George F. Edmunds, I. Sterling Morton, George S. Boutwell, Charles Francis Adams, Mark Twain, Rev. C. H. Parkhurst, W. Bourke Cockran, die Bischöfe Huntington und Vincent und William Lloyd Garrison; ferner 36 Professoren der Universität Chicago. | A petition signed by many distinguished citizens of the country was submitted to the Federal Senate through Hoar, asking for a cessation of hostilities in the Philippines and an opportunity for a discussion of the situation between the federal government and Philippine leaders.
