Mark Twain in German-Language Newspapers and Periodicals

Clemens, Jane Lampton (Jean)

Jane Lampton "Jean" Clemens (26th July 1880 – 24th December 1909) was the youngest child of Samuel L. Clemens (Mark Twain) and his wife Olivia Langdon Clemens. From a young age Jean suffered frequent seizures and underwent a variety of treatments to manage her condition which was eventually diagnosed as epilepsy. She died in 1909 - presumably from a heart attack caused by one of her seizures (see Rasmussen et al., vol. 2, 638).
