Dry Tortugas National Park

Dry Tortugas National Park is located in the Gulf of Mexico, west of Key West, Florida. It has a long history as a stopping point for explorers, immigrants, and the navy; Juan Ponce de Leon visited in the early 16th century. Dry Tortugas preserves Fort Jefferson, an unfinished coastal fortress and the largest brick masonry structure in the western hemisphere, and the Dry Tortugas Islands, the westernmost islands of the Florida Keys.
