Newfound Gap is located in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Every year visitors from all over the park travel here. The gap is on the Tennessee-North Carolina border, which is marked by a sign that thousands, possibly even millions, have taken pictures with. It is also home to the Rockefeller Memorial, which commemorates the large donation made by the Rockefeller Foundation that enabled the creation of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It was at the Rockefeller Memorial that President Franklin D. Roosevelt formally dedicated the park in September 1940.
