Universal Healthcare

The fight for gay and lesbian rights, and the fight against AIDS was always a fight for universal healthcare for all. It is still a part of ACT UP’s mission, and was a rallying point for many protests through the 1980s and 1990s. These photos are from a march to the U.S. Capitol Building, labeled as the universal healthcare action in Mary and Nancy’s materials, though the date is unknown. Protesters target former President George H.W. Bush and dress up as caricatures of dead prisoners, with masks of government officials.
