Benjamin Franklin and All His Witty Remarks: A Critical Edition of Three of Benjamin Franklin's Writings

Remarks: offending Ministers

The Native Americans had every right to be offended in this situation. They listened patiently and open-minded while the minister told the origin stories of his religion. Stories of which the Native Americans had never heard and that there was no proof of. Despite that, the Native Americans believed these stories and showed respect for their telling. In appreciation they exchanged their own origin story to show the minister that they value his stories and opinions. Instead of showing gratitude for being trusted with a sacred story, the minister acted angrily towards the Native Americans and accused them of lying. How very savage of him.
