Benjamin Franklin and All His Witty Remarks: A Critical Edition of Three of Benjamin Franklin's Writings

Remarks: British House of Commons

This picture shows the chaotic nature of a meeting in the British House of Commons. In this depiction it is clear that there are numerous side conversations going on and many of the men are speaking over one another. In comparison, the Native American meetings are much more civilized because they allow everyone to have their say and never interrupt or speak over one another. How ironic that the "savages" are civilized and respectful in their meetings with one another while the civilized white men are the ones acting like animals.
