Aside from the death that occurred as a result of the war, it also impacted America and its economy after its end. The war even caused the existence of the Selective Service Act. As detailed in the video, WWI had many effects, and the sense of nationalism that arose from the war caused imbalances in the work force. Ultimately these imbalances led to improper pay and problems within the unions that were established to provide better working environments for the workers.
The United States started exerting its rights to suspend some civil liberties during this period of time, and ultimately it was the progress that began in the wake of the war towards more fair working and living situations that allowed for the existence of unions. Work times for each week were regulated and a minimum wage was put into place. Having the government in its entirety agree upon these rules allowed for a much better standpoint for the unions in the future.
