Thanks for your patience during our recent outage at scalar.usc.edu. While Scalar content is loading normally now, saving is still slow, and Scalar's 'additional metadata' features have been disabled, which may interfere with features like timelines and maps that depend on metadata. This also means that saving a page or media item will remove its additional metadata. If this occurs, you can use the 'All versions' link at the bottom of the page to restore the earlier version. We are continuing to troubleshoot, and will provide further updates as needed. Note that this only affects Scalar projects at scalar.usc.edu, and not those hosted elsewhere.

He has over 20 years of stage experience in choreography and dance, working for some of the most renowned theaters in the world. He has performed hundreds of times in Canada and France... When Tompkins tried to do a little teaching and researching, he came up with the idea to write a book about that. He says that this book represents the understanding of the modern dances of the 20th century and how the dances completed him in life. He was born in New York, NY United States and his greatest accomplishment is the SEC SACD Choreography Award for his work.
In 2014, Mark Tompkins worked in Slovenia, where he created Veter Norosti for the Mladinsko Theater in Ljubljana. There, he revived the tragicomedy theater with the help of four actors, a diva singer, and modern dance music. The Slovenian people loved the music mixed with their folklore. In 2015, Tompkins created the Sec Le Printemps, a modern dance piece. It was designed generally for three dancers (Silvia Di Rienzo, Anna Gaïotti and Ananda Montange) and a Palestinian musician (Kamilya Jubran).
He is also an author, famous for the title "Mark Tompkins Sec Song and Dance", where he elaborates the modern dances, reviews the history of each of them and provides a breakdown of all of the 20th century dances.
