What is Obeah?

In a nutshell, Obeah consists on a set of rituals with a heavy herbal component that is meant to help people in all kinds of distress, physical or emotional. Its country of origin is unknown, but it was brought to the Caribbean during by the enslaved and was already widely practiced in Jamaica by the 17th century (Murrell 232).
