Literacy Narrative

response essay

I Wanted to show or educate my audience in how I started to develop my reading skills and how my opinion changed about reading through online scours. I wanted the audience to understand where I was coming from, and why and how opinion changed.  The characteristics I portrayed in my literacy narrative is of someone who was fond of offline reading and writing and how he was affected by the effects of online reading and how he started to see the benefits instead of completely ignoring them.

I have been talked about what I wanted my audience to see within my writing, but I haven’t stated who is my audience and why they are so important. At first to me I thought as my audience as just my professor Ms. Lacy and didn’t recognize that my peers are also my audience since we are all able to view each other’s literacy narrative’s. I hope to show the readers of my literacy narrative my reason for becoming accustomed to reading online, in order to keep up with news of what is happening back in my home country and read articles of what is going on in the world around me  that I would otherwise not have even found out about or have had gotten the news later on when the news isn’t news anymore.

The relationship me and my audience share is how we use the internet to be constantly updated on in what is happening in the world around us or in our own little bubbles. Whether it is to find out the weather or who and where are throwing a party to presidential elections and the status of all the states and people in them because of the hurricanes. This is off course an assumption of mine not all my audience is going to fit into that category they are also going to be part of another one instead. They could be ones that barely use the internet for news purposes and instead use it for social media instead, and in terms of accommodating them so they could understand my point of view, it isn’t there my writing is more fit for those who use the internet for news purposes and fails to accommodate those who don’t. This is a mistake on my side I failed to fully grasp who my audience would and could be and how their views and understanding would differ from one another and from mine as well.

In my literacy narrative, I tried to show my audience my point of view and assumed my writing would be relatable to all, because of this lots of my ideas and point will not go across to my reader, at least not in the ways I want them to do be. I learned from the experience of writing my literacy narrative that I must learn how to get a better grasp of my audience and how to portray my ideas to all or most of them in the most convenient way, because not all of them will come from the same stand point as me but instead come from many different angles themselves.
