Provenance
Marks of ownership:Previous owners:
The kingdom of Leon, probably the scriptorium at the Tabara monastery or in one of the centres dependent on it.
The manuscript was commissioned by Abbot Domingo: Dominicus Abba liber fieri precepit. Unfortunately it is not known where he served as an abbot.
The main scribe is a monk called Senior, Senior scripsit, possibly with the collaboration of frater Emeterius et presbiter. Graphemes appearing throughout the manuscript suggests a hand other than that of Senior.
The minatures are by En depintrix et Dei adiutreix, frater emeterius et presbiter.
The Girona Beatus once belonged to precentor Juan who bequeathed a Santa Maria... et bibliothecam I (Biblia) et charules III et passionarios II et librum expositionis apocalpisn..., as recorded in his will dated October 6th, 1078.
