Latinx Representation in Disney: By: Abigail Young and Ainsley Knox

About the Authors

Originally from Wilmington Delaware, my name is Ainsley “Tori” Knox and I am currently a freshman class of 2021 at Swarthmore College. While at Swarthmore I hope to major in biochemistry and possibly minor in music. I love to travel and am also fascinated by the intersections between different cultures. In my Latinx Culture and Literature class I was particularly interested and researched the impact that mainstream tv shows and movies might have on Latinx children. When I am not in my Latinx class, I enjoy dancing, playing piano, singing, and making artwork.

My name is Abby Young, and I’m a freshman at Swarthmore College. My hometown is Rome, Georgia. I anticipate majoring in English and continuing to study Spanish and French. Being half-Bolivian, I am interested in Latinx studies, especially analyzing how Latinx people are portrayed in books and movies. I also enjoy journalism, creative writing, soccer, and traveling.
