The aim of this website is to serve as a social and academic archive of the Afrikaans residences within South African Universities. Among our focus, is the common traditions and cultures that these residences perpetuate. These traditions, along with their origins, are documented and discussed. Please select a starting point.The dictionary defines serenade as a piece of music sung or played in the open air, typically by a man at night under the window of his beloved. Serenade is an annual singing competition between the residences and day houses held at the Musaion and Aula theatres in July/August and April/May respectively. The winners of the Serenade competition go on to represent the university at the National Serenade competition.
