Pop paradox

What happened, is that it is now possible today (and I want to assume that the technological progress will be foreseeable) continue to expand and find almost every emotional, ethnic, political and social, human impulse revealed by art. At the same time these contents are represented and traded on the cultural market and because of this they are integrated into it’s capitalistic structures. It is this paradox I want to point out with this text.

Theoretically everybody, limited by the accessibility of technologies, can participate in the process of producing cultural content, but nobody can refuse to be part of the market. „What started as a revolt finishes as style.“ As a quote by George Melly puts this perfectly together. I want to add the notice that this process has reached a highly simultaneous status. Styles and Objects from all different periods of time are cited, remade, refreshed and occur all together in one time, today.
My idea of POP is, to take it as a sign of the paradox between the democratization of the production of cultural contents and imperatives on one hand and the preservation of the existing capitalistic order by the contents and artwork on the other one. For myself I keep this as a first focus of ideas around the concept of POP. A paradox and by that very interesting concept, which for me has potential to break down borders, being fluent and timeless. This text is an Essay, which probably can work as an inspiration for more cultural research and widening the horizon of reflecting ones own relation to culture, to POP.  #Perception
