Tomboyism

In this clip, we can again see the gender reversal that creates a delightful contradiction of expected feminine behavior. Jo slides across the snow like a young boy, not caring if her clothing gets soaked. Then, as we saw above, she adopts the most manly voice, shouting "Christopher Columbus. These clearly are not words that are lady-like or appropriate in 1933, let alone the Civil War period. And, here, even throws a snowball. Fun tomboyism that is infectious and not threatening.
