The Temple was founded in 1869; in 1881, Governor Alexander Mouton donated land for the congregants to build the synagogue. Initially called Temple Rodeph Sholom up until 1992, the synagogue started out as an Orthodox organization. It was around 1889 when it switched to Reform, which is what it remains today.
The items in this section were donated by members of Temple Shalom.
