Paths

Now that you have your text box open, title your page and start typing in the text box. You can also place your cursor over each feature at the top of the text box to see what they do. You should note that just below the text box there is a tab labeled 'Default View.' This will change the layout of your page. The layout of my project (the project you are reading right now) is Scalar's 'Text Emphasis' feature. It splits the page into two columns and easily allows for images to appear on the right hand side of the page (we will learn this feature in the 'Integrating Multiple Media Platforms' section of the project).

Unlike other digital publishing interfaces, Scalar gives you several unique options for linking and grouping content. The first of these is 'Paths.' A path allows you to link content in a linear fashion. For example, with this project, I have linked my pages together on multiple paths, all of which follow a sequence that ultimately leads back to my 'Index page.' By this method, the user experiences each path as one would a book or a magazine. At any point, you can click on one of the four pages featured in the 'Main Menu' and start a new path.

To add a path to your current page, look below the text box and find the 'Relationships' heading. Click on the link that reads: "specify the items that it contains." Here you can add pages, media, etc. **NOTE** If you plan on linking pages, you must have already created those pages. Pages are saved in your dashboard and will appear in a drop-down list when you want add them in a path.
