Chapter 2: 2030

In the year of 2030, the world was in peace after the World War III during the year of 2016 through 2022. The U.S. had restored peace among the countries after developing the X-bomb, a bomb that was twice more powerful than any atomic bomb ever made. The U.S. had also found a way to mass produce nuclear weapons in a short period of time which made them become the world's most strongest and undefeatable country. Other countries never even dared to go against America. Therefore, for eight years, the world was in peace.
Skyler, an average height and average looking male in his early forties, was one of the most geniuses among his own generation. He was one the top neurophysiologist, computer scientist, and a chemical engineer who worked for the U.S. government. He was also one of the co-founders of the X-bomb. He was a physically average man with a blonde short hair and black, square horn-rimmed glasses. Everything was average of this man except for his brain. Many of his comrades and friends admired him because he was physically and mainly mentally flawless, except for one pinch. He was slightly stiff and stubborn. Many of his utilities in the house were analog like the paper calendar on his kitchen counter. Obviously, he had the latest technologies for his professional fields, but he was always one generation slow on trendy technologies. When cellular phones first came out, he still used the pager. When everyone in the world used smartphones, he used a regular 2G cell phone. When people were getting used to the Google glass, he was getting to know the smartphone. Now, aSync was the hottest and trendiest item around the globe, but Skyler haven't moved on from the Google Glass. He was always cautious with change and would give some time to see if any new products were safe and trustworthy. It was no exception for the aSync. The aSync has been out in the world for about six months now, and anyone without an aSync was mostly treated like an outcast.
"aSync...What a unthoughtful name for the so-called 'next innovation.' How do people even wear that thing without any doubt or fear? People these days are so careless and ignorant," Skyler mumbled while he packed his suitcase for work. He usually lived in his laboratory for weeks or months. This was his first time coming back home in the past couple months. He would hold on to a research for months until he finished it, and then he would take a break for a day and would go back to the lab and start a new research.

As usual, after a day of rest, he packed his stuff, carried his luggage across the living room, and walked out the door. He looked up into the sky, only to see dozens of cars flying across the sky.
"Those fucking flying bastards. Can't even enjoy the warm sunshine anymore like the old days. What's becoming of this world goddammit." scowled Skyler, stomping towards his car. He opened the trunk, threw his luggage inside, smashed the trunk shut, and drove away to his lab.
