12019-04-03T02:35:25-07:00I Am Not a Monster by Cari Neubrand4plain2019-04-04T19:20:29-07:00 The theme I want to focus my second project on is the idea of family, society, and isolation ---> mental health and stigma
tragedy, murder, and despair occur because of a lack of connection to either family or society.
the true evil is isolation
the monster's first encounter with humankind is rejection: his creator, Victor Frankenstein, is horrified by what he has done
the monster is misunderstood, rejected, and alone
born alone to die alone
society alienates people because of their certain characteristics which usually do not fulfill the desired and decisive taste of the society.
the very appearance of the monster contradicts his inner goodness
the monster does however, share human feelings, and aspires towards relationships with other beings
he is isolated due to its hideous appearance. He is rejected by its creator. He is driven away by the prejudice of society.
My argument is going to be that isolation and societal rejection can lead to the development of mental illness.
