Are Mobsters Monsters?

Innocence

A warm smile is never guilty?

Deceptive grins
A smile can create a facade of innocence that gains the trust of the viewer. For Al Capone, Don Carlo Gambino, Lucky Luciano and John Gotti, smiling made them appear like an approachable, family man to society. The smiles of these men do not match the creepy smiles that one imagines scary monsters to wear based on the media's portrayals of monsters. Therefore, the mobsters' smiles seem to be as friendly and welcoming as those from kindergarten teachers on the first day of class. Hence why, mobsters manage to frequently appear innocent or blameless to society, rather than scary and dangerous.  But, like a kindergarten teacher's smile that has been vetted by educational standards to ensure a child's safety, is a mobster's smile to be trusted the same?
