Geronimo Cristobal

I study modern art, colonial Southeast Asia and the region’s ties to the American empire. I earned my BA in Creative Writing from the University of the Philippines in 2011 and I worked as a professional artist and gallery curator for four years before pursuing a career in academe. I came to the United States in 2019 to take an MFA in Art Criticism from the School of Visual Arts and an MA in American Studies from Columbia University. From 2010-2011, I was a German government scholar for curatorial research. I spent a year in Bandung, West Java as a Darmasiswa Scholar, studying Indonesian Language and Culture from 2017-2018.
