Shulman on Shulman 2005 Audio+Photo Interviews
Julius Shulman talks about some of his most important images, such as the iconic nightime multiple exposure of the Stahl House by Pierre Konig, AKA Case Study House #22 (1960), which he called the "Two Girls" picture. Phil Ethington interviewed Shulman in his 1949 Studio and Residence designed by Rafael Soriano in 2005, in preparation of an audio exhibit of his work at the Getty Research Institute. These brief audio files were edited by Ethington from much longer recordings, for the purposes of brevity and focus in the exhibit. These edits also eliminate redundancies, tangential asides, interruptions, etc. The full, unedited recordings are permanently archived by the Getty Research Institute, Department of Special Collections.
