Thanks for your patience during our recent outage at scalar.usc.edu. While Scalar content is loading normally now, saving is still slow, and Scalar's 'additional metadata' features have been disabled, which may interfere with features like timelines and maps that depend on metadata. This also means that saving a page or media item will remove its additional metadata. If this occurs, you can use the 'All versions' link at the bottom of the page to restore the earlier version. We are continuing to troubleshoot, and will provide further updates as needed. Note that this only affects Scalar projects at scalar.usc.edu, and not those hosted elsewhere.

She told him, LibGuides is a web publishing platform that allows library staff to share information, create and manage websites and organize class, and subject specific resources. There are several different types of LibGuides but the 2 most used ones are Research/Subject Guides and Topical Guides.
The Research Guides usually correspond to academic disciplines (e.g., Economics, Criminal Justice, Jewish Studies etc.) however, there are exceptions. For example, the Military Science Research Guide does not match up with an academic discipline but the information in it can be used in other subject areas such as History, Political Science, International Studies and Area Studies. Topical Guides can cover a variety of topics such as but not limited to: Transgender Resources, Racial Equity and Social justice and Brexit.
She showed Andy that access to the Research Guides were located on the Library’s homepage under the Research tab. Then all that was needed to be done was to scroll through the different selections and choose the relevant Subject of the guide that was needed. She showed him a variety of guides based on his research interest and they held tons of different information. Before Andy could walk away, she reminded him if he was on campus, he could always come back to the Reference Desk for help, if he was off campus, he could try the Library’s Instant Message a Librarian service and if he needed more in-depth guidance, he could schedule a Research Consultationwith one of the Research Assistants. Andy thanked her and returned to the consultation room.
