Group Facilitation
We talked about the media being the message, meaning that the way that you listen / watch / appreciate the media is just as important as the media itself, with that being said, how do you think your opinion of BTS would be different if you have never seen any visual representation of the band? Why? What does the visual aspect of the band bring to the table here? Further, how do you think a live show that BTS has in Los Angeles would effect your idea that you have of the band BTS? What does a live performance bring to the table that you cannot get through recorded music or videos?
With these questions, I attempted to get the class discussing how different types of media can help a group go viral. The first question that I asked received at least 5 or 6 responses from the class. I was not surprised to hear that the class thought the music videos aided their success to virality. The students who raised their hand stated that in today's age a video presence is necessary to have the type of success that BTS has. Further, the class stated that going to a show would certainly enhance their understanding of BTS, and help the audience understand the talent and overall ability that BTS has to entertain. In today's age, video and tours are essential to success in the entertainment industry. This was a unanimous opinion in the class.
