This collection of pamphlets and a calendar from the 1970s Chicago Women's Liberation Movement highlights the type of promotion used to call women into the feminist movement. Women in the 1970s started to focus their activism on the ideals of equality within the workforce and in society in general. While at this point women had more rights than in earlier periods of history, there was still a large gap between men and women in terms of roles and expectations in society.
One of the more interesting items of this collection is the Liberated Woman's Appointment Calendar. Each page of the calendar features some form of media or information about women's rights, feminist ideals, or stride and accomplishments of women.The June page spread highlights the achievement of women finally breaking into the sphere of elite all-white male colleges and being granted access to higher education outside of just women's colleges. The feminist theses featured on the October page spread highlights sexism within the church. This graphic mirrors Martin Luther's Ninety-five Theses that were nailed to the door of the catholic church. The Feminist Theses calls into question the practices of the church and how their traditions portray women as inferior to men. This illustration uses the backdrop of Luther's theses to create a Feminist Reformation from the church.
