Poetic Engagements

We are continually experimenting with creative textual/visual ways of grappling with, understanding, and presenting the information in this sensitive archive. Poiesis is etymologically derived from the ancient term ποιέω, which means "to make". This word, the root of our modern "poetry", was first a verb, describing the actions help to make, transform, and sustain our world. So when we say these are "poetic engagements" we imagine poetry as an action that helps to make history in many different forms.
