Dark Souls and Elden Ring share similar themes and concepts present in many other forms of media. Within this artifice, they share a lot of themes with Interstellar and The Day After Tomorrow. All explore themes related to the environment and the consequences of human activity on the natural world. While each of these works approaches these themes in different ways, there are some similarities and connections that can be drawn between them.

The destruction of the world in Dark Souls, for example, is reminiscent of the themes present in The Day After Tomorrow. This film depicts a world in which climate change has caused a sudden and catastrophic shift in the planet's weather patterns due to the melting of the ice caps and the North Atlantic Current. Massive storms, massive hails and huge tidal waves, all of which are caused by human activity, start happening rapidly all over the earth. These events were all predicted by a world renowed scientist - showing how they could have been avoided if action was taken.

The film's premise revolves around a near-future world in which crop blights have caused widespread famine and environmental collapse, causing humanity to search for a new planet to live on.  The characters attempt a solution with their hope and determination to the human climate crisis by piloting a near impossible mission through a wormhole. The film also explores themes related to the interconnectedness of all things in the universe, a concept that is present in Elden Ring in the form of the erdtree and the elden ring artifact itself.
 

Our actions can have far-reaching and catastrophic consequences. If we don't do anything to stop these cataclysmic changes, then we will suffer the consequences. Each medium represents this through their world-breaking events. The first flame, the elden ring, and the weather events in the media are all representative of this.
