Still published today under the editorship of Professor Reid Barbour, Studies in Philology has published work by many of the top scholars in medieval, Renaissance, and early modern studies. Although Studies in Philology originally included philological work, the title is now misleading as the journal focuses on literary and intellectual history. Dr. Barbour takes pride in Studies in Philology’s being “a great place for starting scholars, since every issue includes first publications from grad students and professors at the earlier stage of their career.” Barbour is especially keen to continue the journal's tradition of publishing scholarship that will stand the test of time. In Dr. Barbour’s words, Studies in Philology is “easily one of the most important scholarly journals” and “one of the most precious treasures of this department”
