Thanks for your patience during our recent outage at scalar.usc.edu. While Scalar content is loading normally now, saving is still slow, and Scalar's 'additional metadata' features have been disabled, which may interfere with features like timelines and maps that depend on metadata. This also means that saving a page or media item will remove its additional metadata. If this occurs, you can use the 'All versions' link at the bottom of the page to restore the earlier version. We are continuing to troubleshoot, and will provide further updates as needed. Note that this only affects Scalar projects at scalar.usc.edu, and not those hosted elsewhere.

Francyne Huckabyb0a028670024a30dbf6459126ac0b17fe5ed9174From character building to confidence, Dunbar Buffalos successfully upheld the high standards set for them by their families, school, and community. Respect, responsibility, and the value of education was instilled in them alongside the constant reassurance that they would succeed. Teachers delicately balanced discipline with compassion, providing a space for these students to explore their interests, learn from their failures, and develop a sense of self. The importance of parent-teacher relations, community involvement, and structure will also be highlighted as best educational practices.
