Thanks for your patience during our recent outage at scalar.usc.edu. While Scalar content is loading normally now, saving is still slow, and Scalar's 'additional metadata' features have been disabled, which may interfere with features like timelines and maps that depend on metadata. This also means that saving a page or media item will remove its additional metadata. If this occurs, you can use the 'All versions' link at the bottom of the page to restore the earlier version. We are continuing to troubleshoot, and will provide further updates as needed. Note that this only affects Scalar projects at scalar.usc.edu, and not those hosted elsewhere.

Unfortunately, this includes trying to be a more focused and productive student. This quarter has I've been a battle to stay afloat in my personal and academic life but thankfully, at the turn of week 8, I finally began to feel the progress I've been building upon. This was demonstrated in my ability to design my game's mechanics and systems.
I stayed up late for many nights trying to get some thoughts and ideas onto a board, paper, screen - anything. I was flushing out everything in my head - regardless of whether it had to do with game design or not.
I decided to make my documentary game on my thought processes and how they affect my behaviors. In this regard, I realized that everything I was outputting from my head was content that was viable to be included in my game because the my game is composed of my experiences with my own thoughts.
I finally created a positive feedback loop that benefited me - every thought that popped into my head, positive, neutral, or negative, was utilized to form my system's mechanics.
I spent the last three weeks of the quarter working to compile all of these thoughts and ideas into an order that made sense to my game's design.
