Thanks for your patience during our recent outage at scalar.usc.edu. While Scalar content is loading normally now, saving is still slow, and Scalar's 'additional metadata' features have been disabled, which may interfere with features like timelines and maps that depend on metadata. This also means that saving a page or media item will remove its additional metadata. If this occurs, you can use the 'All versions' link at the bottom of the page to restore the earlier version. We are continuing to troubleshoot, and will provide further updates as needed. Note that this only affects Scalar projects at scalar.usc.edu, and not those hosted elsewhere.

It was my second time experiencing the Vive and I couldn't help but get excited about how awesome it was.
As someone who grew up investing hundreds of hours into multiple digital games, I've been dreaming of the day that VR finally becomes a household items capable of affordably running the biggest and best digital games on the market.
Of course, as I've spent more time researching and analyzing games and the digital arts, I've begun to widen the margins on what I think is possible with VR.
As I've gotten older and regrettably, more pessimistic, I have also become hyper-sensitive to the unethical uses of technology that are currently plaguing our data-driven society and how that can and will make it's way into the gaming realm.
Thanks to this class, I've also began to think critically about how we can challenge this notion and bring progressive, diverse and democratic work to the forefront of this technology's capabilities.
