GUIDING QUOTES

When both filmmaker and social actor coexist within the historical world but only one has the authority to represent it, the other, who serves as subject of the film, experiences a displacement. Though bodily and ethically absent, the filmmaker retains the controlling voice, and the subject of the film becomes displace into a mythic realm of reductive, essentialised stereotype, most commonly romantic hero or powerless victim.

CONSTRAINTS

  1. It must be a two-player game. The main thing I'd like to encourage with this constraint is that you focus on creating a meaningful shared experience for two persons.
  2. The "Conscientious Designer" is conscious of their own subject positioning as the gamemaker/mediator/translator of the subject's lived experiences into gameplay; therefore, the game must reflexively comment on the relationship between subject and gamemaker.
