Bringing the Holy Land Home: The Crusades, Chertsey Abbey, and the Reconstruction of a Medieval Masterpiece

Where was this produced?

This manuscript was likely produced in Paris, France. When the Morgan Crusader Bible was made, Paris was a center for manuscript creation, in part due to the prosperity and stability ushered in by King Louis IX's reign. The style of the manuscript fits within the French Gothic style and is similar to the stained glass windows inside the royal chapel known as the Sainte-Chapelle, also commissioned by King Louis IX.
