Thanks for your patience during our recent outage at scalar.usc.edu. While Scalar content is loading normally now, saving is still slow, and Scalar's 'additional metadata' features have been disabled, which may interfere with features like timelines and maps that depend on metadata. This also means that saving a page or media item will remove its additional metadata. If this occurs, you can use the 'All versions' link at the bottom of the page to restore the earlier version. We are continuing to troubleshoot, and will provide further updates as needed. Note that this only affects Scalar projects at scalar.usc.edu, and not those hosted elsewhere.

Choreographing Shakespeare
12017-01-18T13:39:30-08:00Newberry Library09980eb76a145ec4f3814f3b9fb45f381b3d1f02145491In 1939, legendary Chicago dancer Ruth Page choreographed dances based on three Shakespearean characters: Lady Macbeth, Juliet Capulet, and Katherina Minola (from "The Taming of the Shrew"). Page had costumes designed, and she rehearsed extensively. But she never performed the dances for a public audience. This footage of her rehearsing comes from the Newberry's Ann Barzel Dance Research Collection, and clips will be shown in the "Creating Shakespeare" exhibit open September 23 - December 31.plain2017-01-18T13:39:30-08:00Newberry Library09980eb76a145ec4f3814f3b9fb45f381b3d1f02
