Cragmor Village was part of Forster's idea of bringing industry to the patients. He wanted an industrial center in which invalids could perform manual labor in moderation for curative reasons. But like many of the plans at Cragmor, the industrial center fell through. Instead, Cragmor Village consisted of the cottages that were built to the south and east of the main building. Each cottage had a stucco exterior, a tiled bathroom, a stone fireplace, indoor plumbing and a large Solly-MacLaren sleeping porch.
Even though 50 units were expected, a total of 19 were ever actually built. Through 1920-1923 the first eight cottages were erected, bringing patient capacity to 113. Four additional cottages were completed in November of 1924 and the construction of another seven began by 1927.
