Muhlenberg College Softball

The Muhlenberg College Softball team gets involved with the community in a number of ways. They run clinics that involve the community, volunteer at the Winter Light Spectacular at the Lehigh Valley Zoo, and volunteer for a clean-up day at the Allentown Sixth Shelter.

On January 2015 the Mules headed to the Lehigh Valley Zoo and volunteered of different activities during the Winter Light Spectacular. Someone dressed up in a gingerbread costume, some made smokes, and some enjoyed the giant blow-up snow globes. When asked about the event, Amie DeFeo, class of 2016, said: "The girls enjoyed getting into the holiday spirit while helping out the community."

In October and November, the team visited the Sixth Street Shelter in Allentown. There they volunteered to help clean a vacated apartment, worked outside weeding, raking leaves, and picking up trash.

More details can be found here, on the Muhlenberg Athletics Information Blog "The MuhlBox."

Keeping busy throughout the fall, the Mules also volunteered at the Book Blast at Roosevelt Elementary School. Interacting with different grades, the players participated in different activities corresponding to different books. DeFeo recalled that the children were very excited about reading with the players. The team looks forward to volunteering again.

On Fall 2012, the 'Berg softball team continued their engagement by participating in the Turning Point's "Step Out Against Domestic Violence" 5K. Before the run, they raised money for the charity. DeFeo said they were dedicated to making the "Lehigh Valley a safer place where victims of abuse and their children can find refuge."
